Michael L. Harris was born March 8, 1958, in Florala, Alabama, to Ms. Hattie Pearson and Pete Smith. Michael was the eldest of nine children. He moved to Chicago and went to Austin High School. Shortly after, he joined the Army and was in the 82nd airborne infantry. He served a good two years in the Army and was discharged. He then reenlisted for another 18 months. Right after being discharged again, he found a new love for trucking. He went to trucking school and obtained his CDL’S. He drove many trucks, but his love was Ready-Mix. On September 28, 1991, he was united in marriage to his lovely wife, Sharon of 33 years. Michael was a true servant, husband, father, brother, cousin, leader, and friend. Michael was always the life of the party. He was always down to have a good time. He loved to dance, be around nothing but love and family, and always cracking a good joke to make others laugh. He was also a trucker to the heart. He drove trucks for over 40 years. In his words, he could drive anything on wheels under the sun. He also loved music so much, that there wasn’t a stepping song, he couldn’t step to nor a bassline in a song that he would not try to play on his guitar. Michael departed his earthly life on December 7, 2024 unexpectedly. Preceding him in death: his maternal grandmother, Ms. Hattie Roswer; mother, Hattie Pearson; father, Pete Smith; daughter, Michelle Harris; brothers, Michael, Kenny, Billie, and Steve; and his loving and influential father, Billie Pearson. He leaves to mourn his memories, wife, Sharon Harris; daughter, Nicole (Roland), Sammy (Tenesha) and a bonus son, Hector; six beautiful grandchildren, Christian, Gabrielle, Jayden, Ezra, Aria, and Hector, Jr. In addition, he leaves behind his siblings, Beverly (Tony), Gayvella (Ricky), Kay, Renee (Nate), Keith, Kenneth (Tanya) Greg (Nedra) Frances (Henry), Tina, and two special friends he called brothers that he had been friends with for over 40 years, Kenny Paige and Andre Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
