Minister Leon Horton was born June 9, 1956, to George and Ethelean Horton in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. Leon professed a home in Christ at an early age. He was a deacon and then a minister at Jesus Christ Holy Missionary Baptist Church. Leon moved to Chicago, Illinois, as a teenager where he resided until his death. Leongraduated from Coffeeville High School in Coffeeville, Mississippi, and completed one year of college. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ethelean Horton; mother- and father-in-law, Willie and Annie Perse; brother, J.B. Franklin; and sister, Rosie Horton. Leon leaves to cherish: his loving wife, Joyce, of 23 years; their three children, Tamika, Andrea, and Leon Micah, all of Chicago, IL; two brothers, George (Maude) Horton III, of Chicago, IL, and Woodrow (Catherine) Logan of Coffeeville, MS; four sisters, Mary Chatman, Betsy Logan, Martha Wiley, and LeEdna Spearman, all of Coffeeville, MS; four grandchildren, Tanesha, Amirie, Tristan, and Lilah; greatgrandchild, Jamal; sisters-in-law, Emma (Rufus) Faye and Maude (George); brothers-in-law, Larry-Willie (Stephanie), Bobby, and Rufus; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
