Dorothy Mae Fizer, the baby of ten children was born on August 23, 1943 to the union of Millard and Bettie Fizer in Haynesville, Louisiana. Dorothy received her formal education through the Louisiana Public school system and she received her high school diploma. Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior and was united with the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Argo, Illinois under the tutelage of Reverend Blackwell and remained there and served faithfully under the pastorate of Pastor Nathaniel Randle. She held a myriad of positions and served on the Mother’s Board, Women’s Department, the Organizer for the Mission, Community help, kitchen assistant and more. Therefore, she remained a shinning example of humility and respect and continued to convey her knowledge to both men and women with the purpose to edify, uplift, and encourage them to be holy men and women of God by reaching them where they were with love and compassion. Mother Dorothy’s heart was pricked and on September 24, 2008 she was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, according to Acts 2:38 under the leadership of her son, Bishop Dr. Ellis Murchison, Sr. at Pentecostal Power Church in Milwaukee, WI. The spirit of the Lord spoke and said, this is my beloved daughter, in whom I am well pleased.” Throughout her lifetime, Dorothy was known as a very well-liked woman, to many a friend and others as a sister. A woman, always ready to serve, she had difficulty with saying, “no”. She was a woman of hospitality, one who loved nature and was especially fond of flowers and plants. In many words, she is described as a peacemaker, stern, a giver of life and a woman of wisdom. Dorothy Fizer was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Bobby Johnson in June of 1960 in the state of Louisiana and to this union they were bless with five children. Dorothy was employed with Riveredge Hospital for over 34 years and worked in various capacities until she retired. She also worked at Old Country Buffet for 10 years as a Hostess. Dorothy mostly enjoyed attending church, worshipping and praising the Lord, listening to the choir, attending family reunions, shopping, going to her favorite restaurant Golden Corral, spending time with her sister/sister group and especially spending time with family while making fond memories with her grandchildren. Dorothy Johnson departed this life peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, and she will be greatly missed by those that loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard & Betty Fizer, her children, Elaine Murchison, Marilyn Rankin, Charles Johnson, Mark Johnson, brothers, JB, Johnny, Joseph, Wilson, Andrew & Albert Fizer, sisters, Leona Duffie, Ruby Crow & Ollie Mae Jones. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter, Debbie (Michael) Yancy of Stone Mountain, GA, sixteen grandchildren, Cortez (Janice) Murchison, Elise (Henry) George, Ellis Jr. (Keisha) Murchison, Michael, Malcolm, Christina (Darnell) Blackshear, Brandy “Carmella” Seraphin, Martel, Kevina, Cassious, Lil Charles, Chanelle, and Mynesha, twenty great-grandchildren, three God daughters, Annette, Shirley Lewis & Lillian Sykes, one sister-in-law, Frances (Charles) Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
