Mother Earnestine Jean Jordan graced this earth with her presence on May 20, 1948, when she was born to the late John and Birtha Gibson in Lexington, Mississippi. Earnestine was the youngest of eight children. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
Mother Jordan attended elementary and high school in Lexington, Mississippi.
Mother Jordan accepted God at an early age, and she always remembered where her blessing came from. She joined St. Rome M.B. Church in the ‘60s and was a faithful member, Sunday school teacher, Secretary, President, Chair Member, and a Church Mother.
Mother Jordan moved to Chicago in the early ‘60s. She worked as a factory worker, homemaker, and assistant at Peek A Boo Daycare.
Mother Jordan was blessed with a gift of giving and enjoyed cooking for her family as well as friends. She was loving and encouraging and always told it like it was. She showed unconditional love to all.
Mother Jordan is survived by: her daughters, Lisa (Don) Yvonne, Yvette, and Anthony (Romona); 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Leslie Gibson (Mia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Pastor Connor, Ms. Trotter, Elder Murray, Susie, Linda, Hattie, Judy, Betty, and the entire St. Rome family. Mother Jordan will truly be missed.
