Leartic “Jim” Gage was born November 19, 1939, in Charleston, Mississippi, to the late Lucille Bland and Miller Bland who proceeded her in death. She was the seventh sibling of een children, Alberta (Odell) Buckley, Columbus (Katie) Bland, William Bland, Myrtle (Charlie) Lane, and Cora Bland. She had nine children to precede her in death, Madeline Jackson, James Bland, Dorthy Blair, Cleophia Blackburn, Maggie Mae Jones, Annie Mae Bland, Velma Ree Walker, MacAurthur Bland, and Elizabeth Jean Bland. Leartic moved to Chicago, Illinois, at a young age, where she was introduced to Charles Gage, who preceeded her in death by his brother Ulishous Gage. On December 5, 1965, they were united in holy matrimony. To this union three children were born, Lance Gage, Curtis Gage, and Artlean Gage. Leartic had an entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic, owning several businesses such as a restaurant and clothing store. She worked for Sears Roebucks and Company for twenty years. Leartic was a renaissance woman and didn’t have a problem getting her hands dirty. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family and friends. Leartic was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Leartic confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member and Deaconess of Second Baptist Church in Maywood, Illinois. On June 19, 2024, Leartic was born into eternity. She leaves to cherish her memories: her two sons, Lance (Dionne) Gage and Curtis Gage; one daughter, Artlean Gage; four grandchildren, Arterrya Edmond, Autumn Gage, Trace Gage, and Cameron Gage.
