Olivia Royster-Jones

Olivia Royster-Jones was born on December 15, 1938,
in Belen, Mississippi, to the late Cleatus Royster and
Bertha Survillion. She was the oldest of twelve children.
She was baptized at an early age, where she fellowshipped
at Mount Zion Baptist Church. After leaving Mississippi
on July 5, 1958, she moved to Chicago, Illinois.
Olivia became a devoted and dedicated member of Union
Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, Illinois, under
the leadership of the Reverend Marvin Alexander, where
she was a faithful member for 40 years.
Later she met and married Tommie Lee Jones. They
had seven kids together, but she was a mother of nine.
Five girls and four boys. Her love for her children was
remarkable.
After a long and hard fight, Olivia departed this life on
Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at her home.
Olivia was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha
Survillion (Deceased); father, Cleatus Royster (Deceased);
husband, Tommie Lee Jones (Deceased); daughter, Tina

Royster (Deceased); stepson, Dennis Jones; daughter-
in-law, Marla Jones (Deceased); granddaughter,

Jacqueline Golden (Deceased); great-granddaughter,
Micah McCullum (Deceased); brothers, Cleadus Royster
(Deceased) and Leodis Royster; and sisters, Tonia K.
Survillion (Deceased) and Ora Jean Pruitt (Deceased).
She leaves to cherish her glorious memories: four
daughters, Irene Royster, Tammy Royster, Tess (Jonathan)
Jones, and Terenda (James) Williams, all of Chicago, IL;
four sons, Michael Royster, Tracy (Lisa) Jones, Travish
(LaShawn) Jones, and Tommie Jones, Jr.; one stepson,

Larry (Angela) Jones; thirty-nine grandchildren; thirty-
four great-grandchildren, all of Chicago, IL; six sisters

and three brothers, Luella Taylor of Lombard, IL,
Claudia Pratcher of Marks, MS, Diane Scott of Oak Park,
IL, Dorothy Survillion of Marks, MS, Brenda (Leroy)
Bridgemon of Waukegan, IL, Beverly (Bruce) Watson
of Germantown, WI, Carmela (Jimmy) Jones of Sledge,
MS, Richard Survillion of Chicago, IL, Vernell (Gloria)
Survillion of Marks, MS, Darnell (Kimberly) Survillion
of Marks, MS, and Tyrone (Sharon) Survillion of Marks,
MS; one special aunt, Viola (Munchie) Orr of Chicago,
IL; one uncle, Willie H. Strong of Jonestown, MS; and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
