Ricky Thomas Obituary

On January 16, 1967, Lizzie and Jesse’s baby boy, Ricky Renato Thomas, made his grand entrance into the world. Ricky was born in Chicago, Illinois; he was the seventh out of eight children. He attended Robert Emmet Elementary School and John Marshall High School. He also attended ITT Tech and received his certi cation in medical records. Ricky began his medical career at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, then he transitioned to West Suburban Hospital until he became ill. He made lasting friendships at both locations. Ricky was a true family man. He loved having fun, laughing, and being around family and friends. If you knew Ricky, the way to his heart was a good meal, a game of cards, some instant lottery tickets, and a good cigar. e true loves of his life were his daughter, Danitra, and grandson, Caleb. In 1993, he met his future wife, Latrice, and they united in holy matrimony in 1995. To this union, one child was raised. e marriage later dissolved, but they remained great friends and co-parents until his untimely departure. Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse omas, Jr., and Reverend Lizzie omas; brother, Melvin Holloman; and two nieces, Renata and Karma. Ricky leaves to cherish his memories: his daughter, Danitra Laird (Christopher); grandson, Caleb Laird; four brothers, Bobbie omas (Yvonne), Burnis omas (Norma), Kenneth omas, and Bruce omas; two sisters, Dranue Ballard and Andreia Branch (Darrion); sisters-in-law, Susanna Holloman; two aunts, Addie Chocolate (Joe) and Janie Sanders; one special godson, Tony Jordan, Jr.; Ricky’s Angels, Latrice Allison- omas and Melody Birch eld; two special cousins, Geraldine Barnes and Jerry Rhoden; bonus family, the Williams family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other extended family, and friends.
