RRonald Eric Griffin “Ronnie” onald Eric Griffin “Ronnie” was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 21, 1950, to the union of Magnolia Jamison and Samuel Griffin; both whom preceded him in death. Ronnie was the seventh born of nine children. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn, Otis, Edgar, and Charles, and his sister, Linda. Ronnie was born and raised on the West Side of Chicago. As a child he completed Spry Upper Grade Center and graduated from Harrison High School in 1968. He also completed some college courses at Wilbur Wright College. Ronnie lived on the west side of Chicago, then in 1976 he purchased a beautiful home in Bellwood, Illinois; he lived there until his death. This house was home to many, the central locations for holidays and special events, and was affectionately known as “Mama’s House.” Ronnie was a hard-working man! He worked for a short time at Brach’s Candy Company. In 1971 he began work at the United States Post Office (Downtown Chicago), where he worked as a clerk and supervisor for 37 years until his retirement in 2008. Ronnie loved God! He was baptized some years ago. He attended Douglas Park Baptist Church and was a member of Living Word Christian Center, where he attended regularly while he was able. Ronnie loved music, especially jazz! He loved sports; he was a Cubs fan! He loved playing cards, talking with his friends on the phone, and spending time with his family. He was a simple man, who wanted peace for himself and those around him. He loved to laugh and his laugh was distinct and contagious! He loved fishing! Many of his years were spent on fishing trips with his mother, brothers, sisters, nephews, and his friend, Jack. Ronald, Ron, Ronnie, Griff, Cam, or Uncle Ronnie, however you knew him, you loved him! To know him was to love him! He loved people, loved to laugh, loved his friends, and loved his family! Ronnie leaves to cherish his memories: his sister, Carol; brother, Rickey; brother, Larry; and his God-given brother, Lonnie. Uncle Ronnie also leaves to cherish his memories his nephews and nieces, Denise, Allen, Jewarn, Tywanda, Curtis, Gene, Rickey, Tina, Yolanda, Latonia, Whitfield, Valerie, Shaven, Latrina, Corinna, Artesia, Franshon, and his God-given nephew, Ole Yella! He also leaves to cherish his memories, a host of other nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces. Griff will be missed by a long list of co-workers and friends, including some very special people: Alga, Irma, Jordan, Linda, and Shirley.
