Today we celebrate the life of Ronnie McMurtry, born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 14, 1967. His mother, Deaconess Pinkie Rogers, mourns the passing of her only son of 57 years. His father, L.V. Rogers, preceded him in death. Ronnie matriculated to Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois. He had a love for music and writing poems. He had a special love for his mom and will be greatly missed by her. As the Lord blessed their family, they later moved from the south side of Chicago, Illinois to Bellwood, Illinois and placed themselves under the spiritual leadership and guidance of the late Bishop Geoge A. Hagler, at True Vine Church, located in Bellwood, Illinois. True Vine Church is now pastored by Dr. Harley E. Hagler. Ronnie was preceded in death by: Vera and James Elzy, May Alma and Tommy Skinner, Corene and William Jackson, Louise and George Bell, Thearetha and Eddie Skinner, May Ree and William Shavis, and Johnny Lockett. Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Deaconess Pinkey Rogers; aunt, Thelma Lockett; uncles, James McMurtry of Mississippi, and Charlie McMurtry of Joliet, Illinois; and a host of cousins and friends.
