Rosia Lee Slaughter was born November 24, 1923,
in Dublin, Mississippi to Abram and Mary Fields and was
raised by her mother and stepfather, Walter Peterson, all
of whom precede her in death.
Rosia Lee accepted Christ at an early age. She also
received her formal education at Myrtle Hall School in
Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Rosia Lee met and married the love of her life,
James Eddie Slaughter, Sr., and soon thereafter relocated
to Argo, Illinois. Being a mother figure to so many, God
saw fit to bless Rosia and James with their own miracle
baby, James Eddie Slaughter, Jr.
Once relocated to Argo, Rosia Lee joined Antioch
M.B. Church and served faithfully over 70 years. She
served on many ministries, but her truest ministry was in
the kitchen. The Lord gifted her extremely in that capacity.
Rosia Lee took joy in being a mother and was deeply
involved in her son’s life as well as the neighborhood
children’s lives. You could find her and her husband toting
the kids to one activity or another. Her home was always
overflowing with children and was a beacon of love.
Rosia Lee lived an exemplary life. She embodied the
best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit,
and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care
for her family, friends, and anyone who was blessed to
come into contact with her.
The Lord in all His beauty and magnificence loaned
Rosia to us for 100 blissful years! On March 16, 2024, He
called her to come home, oh good and faithful servant.
Job well done!
She was preceded in death by her husband, James,
brother, Curtis Fields, and daughter-in law, Musette
Slaughter.
She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories: her

of Joliet, IL, Keenan Slaughter of Argo, IL, Raquel
