Rosie Mae Tolliverwas born on September 10, 1934, in Mississippi, to Mary and Emmanuel Barnett. Rosie was united in holy matrimony to Louis Tolliver in 1951, and the two enjoyed 70 years of marriage together. Rosie and Louis moved to Chicago, in 1952, where they raised their six children: Louis Tolliver, Jr., and Mary Amanda Tolliver, who preceded her in death, Gloria Ann Treadway (James), Marvin Tolliver (Charlyne), Jerome Tolliver (Deena), and Kathy Lynn Tolliver-Jones (Sammie). Rosie also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and nine great-greatgrandchildren. Rosie confessed hope in Christ at an early age. She was baptized at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, and was a member of Carter Temple CME Church in Chicago, Illinois. Rosie retired from Hart Schaffner & Marx in 1996, and after her retirement, she dedicated her life to spending time and creating precious memories with her loved ones. Rosie was a loving soul who left a mark on everyone who crossed her path. She loved to talk and share memories of her younger days. She loved to laugh and adored spending time with her family in any capacity. Rosie’s family describes her as caring, wonderful, compassionate, and an independent straight-shooter who was clean to perfection and preached that to her children and all of her descendants. Rosie loved blues and gospel music and enjoyed watching television. Rosie will be dearly missed, and her memory will live on forever in those who cherished her.
