Ruby Louise Muhammad was born on March 19, 1948, to her proud parents, Irma and Stanford Washington, in Chicago, Illinois. Ruby attended Joseph Medill Elementary, Crane Tech High School, Taylor Business Institute, and The University of Phoenix, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Ruby began her journey to success at the age of 19 years old until her untimely death. Ruby had been employed at HRDI, Human Resources Development Institute, Inc., and a Center for Mental Health and Disabilities Services as an Administrative Assistant. Ruby knew at an early age that she would be a person of help to so many people in so many ways. Being a person of service to others only made it easy for her to join the Nation of Islam. Ruby joined the Nation of Islam in the year 1990. During that time, she became a Lieutenant; she taught and trained her private soldiers. Ruby worked for three entities in the Nation of Islam: The Final Call, Mosque Maryam, and the Million Man March Office. Ruby loved to study the teachings of Islam as taught by the Honorable Elijah Muhammad and Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. Ruby Muhammad’s love for the Nation of Islam was immeasurable! Ruby was the ninth of ten children, seven of which preceded her in death: Lois, William, Shirley, Rosemary, Celeste, and two deceased baby siblings. Also preceding her death were her parents, Irma and Stanford Washington, and her nephew, Rodney Washington. Ruby leaves to cherish her loving memories: her “Treasure,” her compassionate, devoted, loving, and caring only son, Terrence Washington; her beautiful, kind-hearted, loving, compassionate, respectful, attentive, and dedicated daughterin-love, La’Kisha Washington; two grandsons, Zion and Zuri Washington; her brother, Shemron Washington; her sister, Sister Iris Muhammad; her extended family from the Nation of Islam; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
