Ruth Wilson Obituary

IN LOVING MEMORY OF RUTH BELLE WILSON RUTH BELLE WILSON was born on November 11, 1933, to Alice Wilson and Thomas Lee Evans in Wetumpka, Alabama. She was the third child born to Alice Wilson. Ruth confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Second Baptist Church in Wetumpka, Alabama. As a child, Ruth attended Elmore County Elementary School in Wetumpka. As a teenager, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she attended and graduated from Wendell Phillips High School on the south side of Chicago. Ruth met her Love Azo Wilson in 1966. They married on May 13, 1967. To that union, Ruth gave birth to her third child and their beloved son, Duane Wilson. Ruth gave birth to two other children from a previous marriage. Brenda Ballentine-Burnley and Roy Earl Ballentine, both whom preceded her in death. Ruth held various jobs in her lifetime with such companies as Zenith, Sears, and Reflector Hardware in Melrose Park, Illinois. Ruth was known as a master gardener. She absolutely LOVED to work in her garden and around her house and it showed. Her home landscaping was absolutely beautiful! Often times neighbors would come down and ask her how she got her flowers and landscaping to look so beautiful. She was so proud of her hard work and very happy to share her gardening knowledge with whoever wanted to learn. She handed down her love for gardening and landscaping to her beloved son, Duane. Duane has kept her legacy of love for gardening and landscaping going. He has now become the master gardener. Ruths home continues to be the home to watch and admire. Ruth was also known to be a very giving person. She was always offering to be a blessing to others not only with her knowledge, but also her tangible items. She donated many items to people and organizations. She felt good being a blessing to people and did it often. Ruth was well-loved by her family and friends. She was absolutely adored by her beloved and devoted son, Duane, who cared fearlessly for his mother for years up to and through her passing. Their love bond was undeniable. Ruth fought long and hard to stay here. However, on August 30, God called Ruth home to rest. No more sickness. No more pain. She is now resting in the arms of her God and Savior. Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Duane Wilson; sisters, Myrtle Owens and Gwen McCrary; grandson, De’Andre Emil Richmond, Lateef Burnley, Ebony (Kenneth) Miller, and Jewel Hoskins; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.
