Sabrina Colvin Obituary

Sabrina Danielle Colvin
March 15, 1970 - January 16, 2024
Sabrina Danielle Colvin (affectionately known as “Chewy”, “Fatgurl”, and “Maggie”) was born March 15, 1970, to Mozelle Colvin and Jimmy Lee Leaster in Reform, Alabama. They have both preceded her in death.
Sabrina attended Wendell Philips High School and graduated in 1989. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, located in Chicago, Illinois.
To know Sabrina was to know her love for music and her infectious smile. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Sabrina. She loved spending time with her family and being the in-house DJ. With a true southern soul, she mostly played the blues, dusties, and gospel. Every night, before bed, she put on a performance that would wake the neighbors and have us filled with laughter trying to name that tune as she sang loud and proud. Sabrina played her music with passion and love. It nourished her soul, healed her wounds, and made life worth living.
Sabrina impacted so many people with her kind spirit, beautiful smile, and infectious laugh. No matter where she went someone knew her and expressed their love for her. Anyone that was her Facebook friend was greeted with “Good Morning” every single day. Sabrina’s joyous spirit, strength, and passion for laughter and song will forever resonate in our hearts.
Our sweet Sabrina sadly passed away January 16, 2024. Sabrina was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Burnham community, where she lived. Her legacy will continue with her two daughters, Shabri Colvin (Maurice McCoy) and Onnie Colvin, and grandchildren, Caiden, Bailey, Bella, and Nova.
Sabrina was predeceased by her sister, Marilyn Rose Colvin. She is survived by her brothers, Calvin Colvin (Nadolyn Colvin), Colston Leaster, and Jimmy Leaster; four sisters, Inez Clay, Glenda Colvin (Gerard Sidney), Deborah Rogers (Percy Rogers), and Betty Colvin (Angus Butler); best friends, Wesley Patton and Julius Washington; boyfriend, Jerome Hoyle; and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Though Sabrina has bid farewell to this world, her precious memories will live on and we will continue to sing her praises.
