Pnelast Praise break The Sam Lovelace Story Hey y’all, it’s me—Samuel L. Lovelace. But most of y’all didn’t call me that. Some knew me as Pooh Man, others as Lil Sam, but if you really know me, you know I was Playa, Playa. And in the Grand Ole C.O.G.I.C., I put some respect on it—Agent Samuel L. Lovelace, reporting for duty. I touched down in this world on September 12, 1989, in Melrose Park, Illinois—blessed to be born to the amazing Samuel and Lydia Lovelace. From the start, my parents knew I was God’s child. They dedicated me at birth under the leadership of my uncle, Dr. Arthur Lockhart, at Healing Temple C.O.G.I.C. He called me “George,” and I wore that name with pride. I graduated from Proviso West High School in 2008—yeah, your boy was smart and popular. I was a lineman on the football field, played tuba in the band, sang in the choir, and ran those hallways like I owned ‘em. After high school, I kept it pushin’ and earned my Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Lincoln Tech. Now let’s talk about what I loved. My family and friends were everything to me. I was always down for a good laugh, a good dance, and a good road trip. And don’t forget the whistle—y’all know it ain’t a party till Sam pulled out that whistle! But most of all, I loved God. Whether I was worshipping at Corinthian Temple C.O.G.I.C. with Bishop David Todd Whittley, or bumpin’ the latest gospel tunes, I gave Him my all. And when I became an official officer of the National Security Task Force of the C.O.G.I.C. on November 07th, 2024. Man, I was walking on air. I wore many hats in life—community liaison, security guard, praise and worship leader, youth choir director, and personal assistant to my Senior Pastor. Whatever the job, I served with joy, because serving people brought me peace. But nothing—and I mean nothing—compared to being a father. The moment my daughter, Sa’Meetra Lovelace, entered this world, my heart grew in ways I can’t even explain. My Pooh Pooh, you were— and are—my greatest gift. On March 20th, 2025, at 7:08 AM, my assignment here was complete, and I clocked out to rest. But don’t cry too long—I lived full, I laughed loud, and I praised hard. So now, I leave behind a legacy of love: my daughter Sa’Meetra, my rock-solid parents Samuel and Lydia, my sisters Sylvia, Katherine, and my other sisters from the heart—Towanda, Latisha, Tina, and Samantha (The Fantastic 6, stand up!). My aunties Diana (Deacon Sylvester) Johnson, Anna Lovelace and Patricia Ellison, my second momma Towanda (Elder Dante) Perkins, my uncles Elder Dale (Rosalyn) Smith, Deacon Terry Smith, Eugene Smith, Clyde Macon, and Victor Lovelace, and my cousins Stephaine Lovelace, Toya Lovelace and my double cousin Shanetta Macon. To my GK crew, don’t let my name fade—keep me alive in laughter, stories, and maybe even a little dance at the family cookout. And to all who really knew me… yes, I still love midgets. If you know, you know. Hold it down for a Playa. Signed, Sealed, Delivered – Ya Boy, PrecIous memorIes Sam
