Sylvia Wilson was born on May 7, 1966, to Flossie and Calvin Wilson, Sr., at Cook County
Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Sylvia’s mother Flossie was God-fearing, therefore she raised all of her children in the church.
As a child, Sylvia attended Maywood Bible Way and Good Shephard Church of God in Christ
with her mother and other siblings under the late Elder Atie Montgomery. In her adulthood,
she joined Praise and Worship Outreach under Pastor Easter F. Goodwin.
Sylvia was a lifelong resident of Maywood, Illinois. She attended Irving Elementary and
Proviso East High School.
Sylvia worked at Lakeview Bus Company in Maywood, Illinois, as a bus aide for several years,
as she enjoyed working with kids.
Sylvia found joy and contentment in babysitting her grandchildren and being there for them
when needed.
Sylvia departed this life on January 30, 2024.
Sylvia Wilson was preceded in death by her parents, Flossie and Calvin Wilson, Sr.; one
brother, Calvin Wilson Jr.; two sons, Kenny Lee Wilson, Jr., and Gerald Travis Wilson; and
one brother-in-law, Darryl Smith, Sr.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her memory: her four children, Carmela Wilson, Suneiray Wilson,
Jaylyn Wilson, and Kenneth Wilson; two sisters, Barbara Wilson and Jeanette Smith; twenty
grandchildren, Travis Wilson, Kayla Wilson, Gerell Wilson, Gerimiah Wilson, Jordan
Wilson, Karlie Wilson, DaShawn Wilson, Alexia Wilson, Jameel Jamerson, Javion Jamerson,
Aishah Jamerson, Raphel Walker, Josiah Walker, Zariah Gills, A’viah Gills, Kamiya Gills,
Jayden Sutton, Ja’Nyla Wilson, Cyan Wilson, and Ky’Mir Wilson; two aunts, Ida Lee Higgs
and Margresta Young; one uncle, George Young, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and
friends.
