Tanya Idolly Miranda

Tanya Idolly “Hortence” Miranda was born on March 24, 1947, in the village of Double Head Cabbage, Belize to parents, Isiah and Victoria Talbert, both of whom preceded her in death, along with brothers, Kenneth and Elston; and sisters, Wincent (Teta) and Sylvia. She received her primary education in Double Head Cabbage, Belize. She later moved to Belize City, where she met and married Mr. Denfield Miranda on April 27, 1974, and this union lasted 16 years. Tanya migrated to the United States, where she started her nursing career at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, caring for her mother and sister. Later, after losing her husband in May of 1990, she moved to Chicago to continue her nursing career and then later moved to Portland, Oregon and Oklahoma City. She eventually moved back to Chicago, and shortly after her health started to decline, she was being cared for by Michael and Georgia Wade until her passing on March 11, 2022. She leaves behind to cherish her memories: brothers, Harman and Cecil; sisters, Ruth and Dorothy; aunts, Evelyn and Ormen; sisters-in-law, Alma Sanders and Gene Miranda; stepson, Mark Miranda; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
