Vermalene Thomas, a beloved mother, sister, and friend. Born in Chicago on October 20, 1949, to Vernola and Marshall Thomas, she was the second of four siblings — Wayne, Robert, and sister Claudistine all of whom preceded her in death. A proud graduate of Farogett High School, Vermalene followed her calling to care for others, dedicating her life to the nursing profession. Through gentle hands and a generous heart, she comforted the sick, uplifted the weary, and restored dignity to those in need. Her work was more than a career — it was her ministry of love and compassion. Vermalene leaves to cherish her memory four children — Anthony Thomas, Gerald Thomas, Christine Thomas, and Elaine Thomas — along with seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. Her spirit lives on through them, and in all whose lives she touched with kindness and grace. Her laughter could brighten a room, her wisdom offered comfort, and her quiet faith guided her through every season of life. She will be remembered for her strength, courage, and the boundless love she shared so freely. Vermalene’s life will be celebrated in the city that shaped her — Chicago — where her journey began and where she has now returned home. Though her earthly path has ended, her love endures in every heart she touched and every life she helped heal. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory be a blessing forever.
