Waymond Perry Obituary

Waymond Perry was born on Sunday, March 9, 1958, in Chicago Illinois, to the union of James Perry, Sr., and Bertha B. Monroe Perry. He was the third of four children. He attended Elementary School in Chicago Illinois, where he earned the distinction of being double promoted and skipping the fifth grade altogether. He received his high school diploma from Lindblom High School in 1975. He pursued various interests throughout his lifetime. His father, James, Sr., preceded him in death. During his childhood, he acquired the nickname “Hollywood,” which followed him for many years. Waymond worked at several jobs before joining the United States Armed Forces for a brief period. He worked as a Security Officer at various retail establishments in the restaurant industry and was a forklift driver while employed at a factory. Most people who knew Waymond knew he enjoyed cooking and eating. He will be missed for his barbeque on holidays and special occasions, meals that lit up the hall in his building, and his own branded “Onion Burgers.” Waymond also enjoyed singing and could hit every deep note of Silent Night as recorded by the Temptations. Waymond accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age and united with True Foundation M. B. Church under the leadership of Reverend C. L. Brookins (Pastor Emeritus). He reaffirmed his belief and reunited with True Foundation Transformation Church and attended as his health would allow. He could be seen many Sundays pressing his way into the sanctuary for worship under the leadership of his current pastor, Bishop Larry Brookins. Waymond supported his Church both financially and spiritually. When he was unable to attend in person, he was found in his “rightful place” online. One of the proudest moments of his life was when he found out he had a daughter, Erricka Thomas. He spoke of her and her accomplishments in life to everyone who would listen. Even many of his neighbors who never met her, know of her.
