Wayne Thomas Obituary

Wayne Thomas was born March 12, 1953, to Vernola and Marshall Thomas. He was the third oldest of four children.
Wayne went to Robert Burns Elementary School. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the Army doing six tours. He was a red beret, army specialist and a paratrooper. After the army, he worked various jobs.
Wayne accepted Christ at a young age under the leadership of Elder Glen Washington at Greater Holy Temple Church of God in Christ.
During his first union with Dale Davis, four children were born: Octavis, Princess, Carrie, and Dominique.
Wayne was a hard-working man, who loved his job in the trucking industry. His fellow employees often referred to him as a good friend and a blessing to know.
The Lord knew the desires of Wayne’s heart. He found love again when he met Petrina Lenior, a new visitor attending his Bible class in 1994. On June 14, 1997, Wayne and Petrina were united in marriage by Pastor Ray Berryhill. Their marital journey of highs, lows, sickness, and health ended as Wayne took his last breath.
Wayne departed this life on February 14, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernola and Marshall; his son, Octavis; one sister, Claudistine; and one brother, Robert.
Wayne leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Petrina Thomas; one sister, Vermalene Thomas; two daughters, Princess Davis and Carrie Thomas; two sons, Dominique Thomas and Ricky Evans; four granddaughters, Lataria Williams, Tiares Campbell, Octavia Thomas, and Nuri Evans; two grandsons, Ricky Evans III and Rhys Evans; mother-in-law, Evangelist Ola Lenior-Rogers; special niece/daughter, Cynthia Ivy; and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives who all reside in Chicago, IL.
