Willie Bernice King

Our Beloved Mother Willie Bernice Massey-King affectionately known as Suga momma was born on September 20, 1942 in Coldwater Mississippi to the late Girlean and Clint Massey. Suga momma was the sixth born of sixteen children. Twelve preceded her in death. Her son Sean Massey also preceded her in death. Bernice accepted Christ at an early age, she was a strong believer. Bernice received her diploma from Tate County High School in 1963, she also received a certificate for Civil Defense Adult Education Course in Protection and Survival in 1963., she relocated to Chicago Illinois afterwards. She married Joe E. King in 1973 (widowed in 1998)they raised her four children on the Westside of Chicago Illinois. Bernice retired from Rush Presbyterian Hospital at age 65 and spent her final days with family in Matteson Illinois. On Monday January 27, 2025 Willie B Massey-King left this world to join our Heavenly Father. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters Gwen and Sabrina, one son, Cassell Massey. Eighteen grandchildren, Keisha, Javae, Mekhi, Sean ll, Linda, Shaquan, Lakeisha, Eula, Deshawn, Ashley, Alisa, Sean lll, Madison,Kaiden., Shehariah Pablo Jr., Selena and King. Fifteen great grandchildren one became a child celebrity she was extremely proud of that. Three sisters Clara, Mary and Brenda, one brother Lawrence and a host of nieces,nephews, other relatives and friends. Bernice’s legacy of compassion and devotion will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to have known her. “The Lord is my shepard I shall not be in want” Psalm 23:1
