Yolanda Brandy

Yolanda Roland was born on September 18, 1966, to the proud parents,
Pamela Mitchell and Kenneth Roland. Her dad looked at her and decided to call her
Dee Dee.
Yolanda accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in June of 1980, under the pastoral
leadership of Reverend W.H. Foster at greater First Baptist Church in Chicago,
Illinois 60644. She later attended several churches, but in 2015 Yolanda joined Old
Rugged Cross Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Walker. She
later moved her membership to New Foundation Fellowship Baptist Church located
at 3827 West Van Buren Chicago, Illinois 60624 under the leadership of Pastor
Jerome Montgomery.
She attended Marconi Grammar School, Michelle Clark Middle School, and she
graduated from Farragut Career Academy High School in 1984.
On Saturday, September 27, 2017, Yolanda was united in Holy Matrimony to the love
of her life, George Brandy whom she affectionately called “Honey”. In this union, a
blended family was formed. They shared eight children and ninteen grandchildren.
Her husband enjoyed her infectious smile and spontaneous laughter. She was very
family-oriented, funny, and practical at the same time. As an amateur photographer,
she would take pictures of everything and everybody. She was skilled at capturing
candid photos of family, friends, and pets. She would blast those photos to your
phones to let you know she has them and jokingly use them against you. Let’s not
forget all her wig hacks with the babies. She used to plan surprise vacation trips and
later said, “By the way Hun, we’re going to Florida next week.” Yolanda also had a
beautiful voice and would sing her heart out. Did you know she won the karaoke
contest on the cruise ship singing Tennessee Whiskey, acapella?
Yolanda worked at Leda Services over 14 years, caring for the disabled. She was
passionate at her job because she was a caregiver at heart. Yolanda played a major role
in the care of her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Mitchell during her extended
illness, until her passing. She was also the primary caregiver for her mother-in-law.

Yolanda had a big heart along with her big smile and she loved with her whole heart.
On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, Yolanda Brandy was escorted by her angels to the

gates of Heaven. Yolanda is preceded in death by her four grandparents; mother-in-
law; father-in-law; seven uncles; three aunts; and one nephew.

Yolanda leaves to cherish her memories of her: loving husband, George Brandy;
parents, Kenneth Sr. and Pamela Roland; eight children Jamon, Laquita (Derrick),
Lakeeda, Courtney, George Jr., Dion (Dyani), Marqueeta (Marcus), Dominique;
nineteen grandchildren, one sister Angela Roland, two brothers Kenneth Roland, Jr.
(Cherise), LaDaryl Roland, Sr. (Virgeline); two brothers-in-law, Nathaniel (Connie),
Alex (Laverne); two godsisters, Tyisha McDowell and Shana Ross; six aunts, Gloria
Willis, Alice Tanksley, Rose Wolfford, Brenda Mitchell, Maryann Mitchell, Monica
Roland; two uncles, Danny, Walter Mitchell, two great-aunts, Pearley Hill and Willie
Mae Davis; dog, Gucci; cat, Lokey; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives, and dear friend.
