God loaned an angel to Anderson and Lillie Mae Phillips on October 18, 1965. They preceded her in death, along with several of her siblings: Andrew Phillips, Anna Mae Phillips, Cora Bryant, Patricia Price, Odell Phillips, Sr., James Irons, and Tina Griffin. Zeezet was known to most as Precious, but to family, she was simply Zook. She was the baby of 12 children, and although she was the last to arrive, she had a way of making everyone feel like they were her only. Zeezet received a private education at St. Thomas Aquinas, Notre Dame High School for Girls, and later, Rosary College. Education was important to her, but her real passions came straight from the heart. She loved music—every rhythm, every genre—but Michael Jackson music held a special place in her heart. His voice wasn’t just sound, it was healing for her. In 1989, she met the love of her life, Jimmie Hudson. Their love was real and full of joy, and on April 4, 1992, they sealed it in marriage. From that union came two beautiful daughters: Zelaia Tatiana, who preceded her in death, and Zefirah Natia Jimmayla Hudson, who remains her heartbeat. What was most important to Zeezet was her walk with God. She was a virtuous woman, and the fruits of the Spirit truly dwelled within her. Her faith wasn’t just something she talked about, it was something she lived. Zeezet was a faithful member of the Powerline Prayer Team, showing up every Wednesday morning at 5:00 a.m., lifting her voice in intercession and praise. Her quiet strength and unwavering devotion were a reflection of a deep, personal relationship with God that shaped every part of her life. Zeezet dedicated many years of her life to serving others, first in healthcare as a phlebotomist, then as a Commercial Compliance Supervisor at Montgomery Ward, and later at Household Finance in the mortgage department until her early retirement. But her real job, the one she gave her heart to, was creating a safe haven for others. Her home became a landing place for nieces, nephews, godchildren, and neighbors’ kids; if you needed love, care, or just a place to be, she had you. On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 9:12 a.m., Zeezet transitioned her legacy and entered into eternal light. She leaves to forever cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Jimmie Hudson; loving daughter, Zefirah Hudson; brother, Quincy Phillips; sisters, Delorse (Dave) Burnett and Apostle Maria (Apostle A.P.) Collins; sister-in-law, Kim Irons; and brother Roy (Aline) Phillips, Sr.; her first daughter (niece), her special baby, Jalai Phillips, who meant the world to her; her first granddaughter, Elai—AKA Her Stink as she called her; closest friends who stood the test of time, Minnie Strong, Monique Hudson, and Sabrina Williams; godchildren, Zeezet (Miss Ann) Price, Aisha (Lil Precious) Bryant, Patricia (Candy) Hughes, Latoya Green, Shaina Porter, Rori Phillips, and Roy Phillips; let’s not forget her sister-nieces, Veda, Lon, and Niecy—you couldn’t say Zook without thinking of them; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will continue to carry her memory forward. If you ever knew Zeezet, you knew love. You knew peace. You knew a woman full of grace, humility, and quiet strength. She was soft-spoken, but her spirit echoed in every life she touched. Her famous saying was simple, but powerful: “GOD IS IN CONTROL.” And truly, He is. An orange ribbon symbolizes her favorite color.
